Measuring website usage (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics software (Universal Analytics) to collect information about how you use the site. We do this to help make sure the site is meeting the needs of its users and to help us make improvements, for example improving site search.

Google Analytics stores information about:

  • the pages you visit on the site
  • how long you spend on each the site page
  • how you got to the site
  • what you click on while you're visiting the site

We do not collect or store your personal information (for example your name or address) so this information can't be used to identify who you are, but we may store information related to the IP address from which your browser accesses our pages, and information about which version of browser or operating system software you use (e.g. Crome, Firefox, Linux, Windows).

We do not allow Google to use or share our analytics data.

Analysing visitor navigation, and prompting

We log a cookie the first time you visit the site to let us know you've visited already, and so that we can tell when you visited particular pages.

We'll also save a cookie that lets us know you do not want to see a prompt if you dismiss it, or if you have been shown a message already.

Multivariate testing

We sometimes test different versions of pages with different users to see which work better. We'll save a cookie so that you consistently see the same version when browsing the site.
